School Wide Positive Behaviour

What is School Wide Positive Behaviour?

School-wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) is a globally recognised, evidence-based framework that helps schools create safe, positive, and inclusive environments where students and staff can thrive.
School Wide Positive Behaviour helps to:
  • Increase respectful and positive behaviour
  • Strengthen social and emotional wellbeing
  • Reduce classroom disruptions and increase learning time
  • Build positive, respectful relationships between students and staff
  • Create safe, orderly and supportive school environments.

SWPBS at Strathmore North Primary School

At Strathmore North Primary School we implement School Wide Positive Behaviour Systems (SWPBS). School Wide Positive Behaviour brings students, school staff and families together by setting clear expectations for behaviour and celebrating the positive choices our students make everyday. SWPBS is a school-wide approach that explicitly teachers and celebrates positive behaviours, helping all students to understand our share expectations.

Our School Wide Positive Behaviour Systems are underpinned by our 4 School Values:

  • Be Respectful
  • Be Responsible
  • Be Kind
  • Be Brave

SNPS Expected Behaviours Matrix:

Our Expected Behaviours Matrix outlines the behaviours we expect of students, aligned with our school values. Our matrix is divided into 3 areas:
Me: which refers to the students independently.

Places: which refers to different locations or areas throughout the school, for example: classrooms, specialist classes, in the yard, library etc...
People: which refers to communicating or collaborating with others.

Our students are explicitly taught the Expected Behaviours from our matrix and encouraged to demonstrate appropriate behaviours through our whole school Acknowledgement System.
