At Strathmore North Primary School our educational approach to Digital Learning reflects a commitment to fostering digital literacy, responsible technology use, and innovative learning practices. This includes not only teaching technical skills but also fostering a mindset of adaptability and creativity. We aim to develop innovative and confident users of digital technologies. Emphasising the safe and responsible use of technology is essential. Teaching students about online safety, digital ethics, and responsible behavior is a critical component at SNPS. The BYOD program at Strathmore North Primary School demonstrates a forward-thinking perspective on integrating technology into classrooms. It recognises the importance of digital literacy, responsibility, engagement, autonomy, and collaboration in preparing students for success in a technology-rich world.
Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Program:
Families of students in Year 3 to 6 are asked to provide an iPad for use at school and at home. The iPad allows students to access the Internet, electronic books and a wealth of online tools and resources. iPads support a range of learning activities where students collaborate, create knowledge, problem solve and think critically. Students are able to produce movies, animations, podcasts and other multimedia products. The iPad’s portability, long battery life, ease-of-use and access to an ever growing bank of educational Apps, make it an ideal device to support teaching and learning. Families of students are also asked to provide headphones that are compatible with the iPad and an external keyboard for typing practice.
The students will take their devices into years 4, 5 and 6 and eventually into secondary school. Currently Strathmore Secondary College requires students to bring their own device to school. Their preferred device for students to bring is an Apple iPad.
